Circle
Photo walks: explore Cairo with a camera and new friends
Photography turns an ordinary walk into an adventure, and a phone camera is all you need. This circle is for people who like exploring the city through a lens.
Where people do this in Cairo
- El Moez Street and Khan el-Khalili, with mosques, gates and old lanes.
- The Nile Corniche and Zamalek, especially at sunset.
- Al-Azhar Park at golden hour, with views over the minarets of historic Cairo.
How to find your people
- Pick a theme for each walk, such as doors, reflections or street life.
- Share your favourite shots afterwards and give each other a tip.
- Go at golden hour, which is also the coolest part of the day.
First plans for two
- A golden-hour walk in Al-Azhar Park
- Nile views from the Corniche after dark
- A morning walk along El Moez Street, then tea
Good to know
Always ask before photographing people, respect signs at sites where photography is limited or needs a permit, and never photograph military or security sites.
How the Photo walks circle works
Members of this circle start plans that anyone in the circle can join, like a game, a walk or a coffee, and answer one quick question a week. Plans are always in public places and arranged by members. Friendship only, for grown-ups 18 and over.
