Privacy Policy
Last updated 9/10/2026 · اقرأ بالعربية
This policy explains what TruFriend.ai collects on this website and in the TruFriend app at app.trufriend.ai, why, and what you can do about it. TruFriend.ai is operated by Tothiq AI Services & Solutions, a company licensed in Kuwait ("we", "us").
What we collect
- Launch invitation list: your email address, the date and time you joined, and your confirmation that you are 18 or older and agree to this policy.
- Contact form: your name, email address, the topic and your message.
- Member accounts (invited founding members): your email address, first name, date of birth, your area in your city, what you are looking for, your privacy choices and when you made them, and sign-in records (time, approximate country and browser type).
- Friendship profile: the interests, friendship style, preferred group size, free times, languages and short description you give us, either in a form or in a chat with Tru, plus your choice of what other members can see.
- Profile photo (required to activate your account): one clear, recent photo of your own face that you add and crop yourself. We ask for it so everyone on TruFriend is a real person; until a photo is approved you can look around, but you can’t message, join plans or get introductions. We save a small copy without the hidden location data phones add. Only members you are introduced to can see it, and only if you choose to show it. Every new photo is checked before other members can see it: an automatic check (Cloudflare Workers AI) flags anything that may break our rules, and a TruFriend team member reviews it.
- Invitations you send: the note and, if you add one, the email address you enter for someone you invite. We never email the people you invite.
- Chat with Tru (only if you switch Tru on): the messages you exchange with Tru, and a record of each AI request (time, model and outcome, never the content). Tru never asks about religion, background, health, politics or money.
- Messages between members: the messages you send to people you are connected with, when they were sent and when they were read.
- Meeting plans: the activity, place, day and time a member suggests, and whether the other person accepted, declined or cancelled. After a plan, your private answers to whether you met, whether you would meet again and whether you felt safe and respected.
- Circles: the circles you join, your answers to circle questions, any short note you add, and whether you allow us to quote that note with your first name. If you leave your email on a circle page of this website, we also record which circle you asked about.
- Group plans: the plans you start in a circle (activity, public place, day, time, number of places and an optional note), the plans you join, and the messages in each plan’s chat. People going to the same plan see each other’s first name, age, community and, if you allow it, your photo.
- Free today (only if you use it): that you’re free today and an optional short note. Members who share a circle with you can see it until the end of the day.
- Circle hosts: if we ask you to help run a circle, that you’re a host and any questions you suggest.
- Blocks and reports: who you block, and any report you make (the reason, your note and a copy of the last 30 messages in that conversation or group plan chat).
- Security data: your approximate country, derived from your IP address by our hosting provider, and short-lived technical logs used to stop spam and abuse. We do not store your full IP address with your submission. When something in the app fails, our team gets a short error notice (what failed and when), which never includes your messages.
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share your information for marketing. We measure visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without tracking you across other websites.
Why we use it
- To send you an invitation email when a place opens for you, usually a day after you ask, and one reminder a few days later if you haven’t joined (based on your consent).
- To reply to messages you send us (to handle your request).
- To run your account: signing you in, checking you are 18 or older and suggesting compatible people (to provide the service you signed up for). Tru, our AI assistant, only uses what you share if you switch that on.
- To suggest introductions (to provide the service). Our matching rules compare the parts of your friendship profile you allow, your area and your age, and a TruFriend team member reviews each introduction before it is sent. When you are introduced to someone, they see your first name, age, community, the profile details you chose to show, your photo if you allowed it, and the reasons for the introduction. You are only connected if you both say yes; if either of you passes, the other is not told who declined. Suggestions are never based on religion, ethnicity or nationality.
- To email you about new introductions and connections.
- To help you meet: showing plans in your chat, and emailing you when a plan is suggested, accepted, declined or cancelled, a reminder before it, and one follow-up afterwards (to provide the service). Your answers after a plan are never shown to the other person; we use them to improve future introductions, and if you say you didn't feel safe, a TruFriend team member is told so we can follow up.
- To run circles: showing members the combined results of each question (only once enough people have answered), suggesting people and plans, and, only if you allow it, quoting your note with your first name in our articles.
- To run group plans (to provide the service): showing plans to members of the circle, letting people join until the plan is full, emailing the host when someone joins, emailing everyone going if the host cancels, and sending a reminder before the plan. TruFriend doesn’t organise these plans; members do.
- To send Tru Thursday, a short weekly email summarising your introductions, plans and circle questions (to provide the service). You can switch it off in Account or with the link in every email.
- To send tips and reminders (our legitimate interest in helping you get started and stay in touch): a few emails that suggest a next step, such as finishing your profile, joining a circle or starting a plan, a note when you haven’t visited for a few weeks, and an evening note when members start new plans in your circles. We send at most one every few days (the evening note at most once a day), and never on Thursdays. You can switch them off in Account or with the link in every one. We count emails sent per day and type, without addresses, to keep the volume low.
- To keep members safe: a TruFriend team member reviews every new photo and every report with the messages attached to it, and may dismiss a report, warn the member, remove a photo or suspend the account. The reported member is never told who reported them. Content that may be illegal, such as any sexual image of a child, is removed straight away and reported to the authorities.
- To stop automated sign-ups: the sign-in page uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks your browser without cookies for advertising and without tracking you across websites.
- To keep the website secure and free of spam.
Where it is stored
This website runs on Cloudflare. Your information is stored in Cloudflare's data centres, which may be outside the country you live in. By joining the list or sending a message, you agree to this transfer. Contact form messages are also delivered to our team's email inbox.
Tru runs on Cloudflare Workers AI, inside the same provider. Cloudflare does not use your messages to train AI models, and the AI service itself does not keep them. Only we store your chat, as described below.
ID checks
Members can choose to verify their identity to get an “ID verified” badge. The check is run by lumex.id, an identity verification service operated by Tothiq AI Services & Solutions, the company that owns TruFriend. It only starts after you agree to it in the app. You scan your ID card or passport live with your phone’s camera and turn your head; lumex.id checks that the document is in date, that you are a live person and that your face matches the document photo, and we confirm you are 18 or over from the date of birth on the document.
We keep only the result (verified, declined or under review), the country that issued the document, the date, and a one-way code made from the document number so the same document cannot verify several accounts. We never keep the images, your document number or the other details on it, and we do not ask lumex.id for a copy of your document. If a result needs a closer look (for example, the date of birth differs from your profile), a TruFriend team member reviews it.
Signing in with Google or Microsoft, and your calendar
You can choose to sign in with a Google or Microsoft account instead of an email code. We then receive only your email address and an account identifier from Google or Microsoft, and we keep only those two things, so the next sign-in finds your account. We do not receive your password, contacts, name or photo from them.
You can also choose to connect Google Calendar or Outlook in Account, Calendar. When you do, we add the TruFriend plans you start or join to that calendar, update or remove them when a plan changes, and check when you are busy or free so plans can be suggested at times that suit you. We only see busy or free times, never the titles, places or people of your other appointments, and we do not keep them. The access keys Google or Microsoft give us are stored encrypted and deleted when you disconnect or delete your account. You can disconnect at any time in Account, Calendar, and you can also remove TruFriend’s access in your Google or Microsoft account settings.
Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
How long we keep it
- Launch list: until we send your invitation, then for 12 months so we can confirm your request — or until you ask us to remove it, whichever is sooner.
- Contact messages: up to 12 months after the conversation ends.
- Member accounts: until you delete your account. Deleting it removes your profile, choices, chat and sign-in records straight away.
- Chat with Tru: 30 days, then deleted automatically. You can clear it sooner at any time, and switching Tru off deletes it straight away. What Tru learned stays in your friendship profile, where you can change or remove it.
- AI request records (no content): 12 months.
- Profile photo: until you remove or replace it, or delete your account. It is deleted straight away.
- Messages between members: while the connection exists. They are deleted when either member deletes their account; blocking someone ends the conversation for both.
- Meeting plans and your answers about them: while the connection exists, like your messages.
- Circle memberships and answers: until you leave the circle, change your answer or delete your account. A note you allowed us to quote may stay in an article already published, but we remove your name on request.
- Group plans, who joined them and their chat: 30 days after the plan’s date, then deleted. Leaving a plan removes you from it straight away.
- Free today: until the end of that day in Dubai.
- Reports and moderation records: up to 2 years, so we can act on repeated behaviour, then deleted.
- Introductions: while your account exists, so we never introduce the same two people twice. Unanswered introductions close after 14 days.
Your rights
You can ask us to show, correct or delete your information, or to stop using it, at any time. You can also withdraw your consent to the launch invitation. Members can download their data, change their privacy choices and delete their account themselves in the app under Account. Anything else: send your request through our contact form using the same email address. We reply within 30 days.
Age
TruFriend is only for grown-ups aged 18 and over. If we learn that someone under 18 has joined the list, we delete their information.
Language
This policy is also available in Arabic. If the two versions differ, the Arabic version applies where the law requires it; otherwise the English version applies.
Changes
As TruFriend adds features, we will update this policy before they go live and show the date of the change at the top of this page. If a change affects what you agreed to, we will ask you again in the app.
